REY MYSTERIO is Oscar Gutierrez in real life. He was born on December 11, 1974 in Chula Vista, California. Rey is currently signed in World Wrestling Enertainment (WWE) in its Smackdown brand.

Rey Mysterio started wrestling at a very early age. His uncle, Rey Mysterio Sr., started to train him at the tender age of 14 and started wrestling then. He used the name Colibri and started using Rey Mysterio Jr. when he turned 18.

Rey started professional wrestling in the US with ECW in 1995. He then trasferred to World Championship Wrestling in 1996 and debuted in The Great American Bash challenging Deam Malenko for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Rey Mysterio however lost that fight when Malenko cheated to retain the title.

Only three weeks after his debut, Rey captured the Cruiserweight Title from Malenkoo in the WCW MOnday Nitro but lost it again to Malenko three months later at the Hallloween Havoc. Mysterio then feuded with different wrestlers like Ultimate Dragon, Malenko, Super Carlo, Lord Steven Regal and Eddie Guerrero.

Mysterio remained in WCW until the early part of 2002 where he captured the Curiseweight Title four times. In June 2002, Rey Mysterio signed with the World Wrestling Entertainment in its Smackdown brand. Rey debuted in WWE against Chavo Guerrero which he won.

Rey became a fan favorite which led him to many feuds until he landed in a match in Summerslam against Kurt Angle. Rey lost the fight when he was forced to submit to the ankle lock applied by Angle. Rey then formed a tag team with Edge and fought for the WWE Tag Team Championship. They reached the finals by defeating the tag teams of Tajiri and Brock Lesnar in the quarter finals, Ron Simmons and D-Von in the Semi-Finals but lost to Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit in the Finals.

Rey Mysterio and Edge however get the chance to challenge the tag team champions again when they beat the Los Guerreros in a number one contender's match. On November 7, 2002, they defeated Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit to capture their first WWE Tag Team Championship Title. They however lost the title 12 days after they lost to Los Guerreros at the Survivor Series.

Mysterio also made a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight title but he lost to Matt Hardy after the interferrence of Shannon Moore. On May 2, 2003, he challenged Matt Hardy again and this time he captured the belt after pinning Hardy. He reigned as Champion until he lost the title to Tajiri on the September 25 edition of SmackDown.

Rey regained the Cruiserweight title o January 2004 after he beat Tajiri in SmackDown. He defended the title against Jamie Noble during the Royal Rumble but lost to Chavo Guerrero in No Way Out. He challenged Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Title but he lost in the match. Rey also lost the Cruiserweight belt to Spike Dudley in the July 29 edition of SmackDown.

Mysterio returned to the tag team division and formed a team with Rob van Dam and they captured the WWE Tag Team Championship belt from Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree on the December 9 edition of SmackDown. They however lost the title to the Basham Brothers when van dam was injured in the fight. This led to Mysterio forming a tag team with Eddie Guerrero which consequently won the title from the Bashams at No Way Out.

In the 2006 Royal Rumble Match, Rey lasted for sixty-two minutes in the ring to win the match in eliminating Randy Orton. Rey also made a record for the longevity in Royal Rumble with his size. His win in the Royal Rumble earned him the right to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title held by Kurt Angle. It was a Triple Threat Match against Randy Orton and Kurt Angle. At wrestlemania 22, Mysterio pinned Orton to win his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship title.

He made a successful defense against Randy Orton although he was the underdog in the match. Mysterio also made many successful defenses until he was injured and relinquished the title to Edge. He was sidelined for 6 months due to his injury and had undertaken three major surgeries in a span of one month.

When Rey Myserio returns, he was drafted to Raw! brand making him the first superstar to be drafted in the 2008 WWE Draft. He then faced John "Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL) for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemani 25 which he won in just a span of 21 seconds after pinning JBL with his famous finisher 619.

Rey returned to SmackDown during the 2009 WWE Draft. He successfully defended his title against Chris Jericho during the Judgment Day but lost it at Extreme rules when Jericho was able to remove hi mask during the fight. Although Rey Mysterio was unmasked in the fight, his face was not shown in the TV since he covered it and exited the arena early.

Jericho then challenged Mysterio and booked in a Title vs Mask match at The Bash. The match granted that if Mysterio losses the fight, he will unmask forever. DUring the foght, Jericho again was able to remove the mask of Mysterio just to reveal that Mysterio was wearing another mask. With Jericho's astonishment, Myterio took the oppurtunity and pinned Jericho to regain the WWE Intercontinental Championship Title.
