John Cena, or John Felix Anthony Cena in real life, was born on April 23, 1977 in West Newbury, Massachusetts. He is the second eldest of five brothers anmely Dan, Matt, Steve and Sean.

After his graduation from Cushing Academy, he enrolled in Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts and became a Division III All-American center on the college football team sporting the number 54.

He graduated college in 1998 with a degree in Excersise Physiology. He then pursued a career in bodybuilding and worked as a chauffeur for a limousine company.

John Cena started professional wrestling in 2000 under Ultimate Pro Wrestling and he held the heavyweight belt shortly. He was known there as The Prototype and Mr. P. He was then signed by World Wrestling Federation (WWF) where he wrested the heavyweight belt and the Tag Team Championship with Rico Constantino.

John Cena made his debut in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2002 when he accepted the open challenge by Kurt Angle. Although he lost the fight, Cena became fan favorite and started to make name in WWE.

In 2003, he wrested the United States Championship belt after defeating Big Show at Wrestlemania XX. He lost the belt after accidentally aknocking down SmackDown general manager Kurt Angle. He gained back the belt from Carlito and that's the birth of the "spinner-style" championship belt.

In 2005, he participated in the Royal Rumble match. He made it to the final two but he was however eliminated by Batista. John Cena lost his US belt in the same year but won the WWE Championship Belt later from John "Bradshaw" Layfield or JBL.

In the succeeding years, Cena participated in various WWE events such as the Survivor Series, Wrestlemania and others. He won the Tag Team Championship belt with Batista after they defeated the team of Cody Rhodes and ted DiBiase. He defeated Chris Jericho and win his first World Heavyweight Championship belt. He lost however the belt to Edge in a Last Man Standing Match after an interference from Big Show.

John Cena and Big Show began a hated feud and settled it in the ring at the Judgment Day. Cena defeated Big Show in a Submission Match by applying the STF.

Due to John Cena's popularity, he also ventured into movies. In 2006, WWE Studios produced his first movie "The Marine" which was distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film grossed $18.7 million in ten weeks and made another $30 million in the first 12 weeks with DVD rentals.

His second movie is "12 Rounds", still produced by WWE Studios and released on March 27, 2009. The film grossed more than $14 million and the DVD is (to be) released on June 30, 2009.

COMMENTARY | John Cena is perhaps the most polarizing wrestler in WWE history. Most women and children love him, while most men hate him. Usually, WWE fans can agree on who should be the heroes and villains. But every episode of WWE Raw sounds like a verbal battle between Cena's fans and haters to take control of the arena....

  • John Cena: Reliving Every PPV Clean Loss Since Winning His First WWE Title
    published on Tue, 14 May 2013 12:24:48 -0700
John Cena has been one of the most scrutinized and hated WWE babyfaces of all time because of his bland humor, poor wrestling skills and the fact that he fails to lose cleanly on a consistent basis. Despite being a fan, I must admit that Cena has been noticeably protected for the past decade. It makes sense that the WWE protects their biggest cash cow and makes him look like a superhero to ......
  • John Cena vs. Ryback: Predictability Won't Take Away from Match's Intrigue

SPOILER ALERT: John Cena will beat Ryback at Extreme Rules on Sunday night.  He just...will.  Cena , for better or for worse, means too much to the WWE to lose the business' biggest title so quickly after winning it. He has left victorious in too many big-time (and small-time, and medium-time) matches to even remotely suggest he will be defeated on Sunday. But don't let that deter you. There are ......

Ryback was unsuccessful in his bid for the WWE Championship against John Cena at Extreme Rules on Sunday night May 19.  The end came after Ryback hoisted Cena up and both men plowed through the set at the top of the ramp.  Though the WWE title did not change hands, the fact is that Ryback looked the part; which is exactly what needed to happen. Before Extreme Rules kicked off, I published a ......
